Located at Drinagh, Errislannan, Holy Trinity Church extends to approximately 151.7 sq m / 1,632 sq ft and stands within a peaceful setting on the Errislannan peninsula. The property is listed on the Record of Protected Structures with a Regional Rating “on account of its architectural quality and simplicity of detail”.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) and offers are invited for the purchase of a new 99-year lease of Holy Trinity Church, off the Clifden–Roundstone Road at Errislannan, in order to secure a sustainable, long-term future for this historic building. Holy Trinity Church was designed in 1852 by Joseph Welland for the Rev. Richard Wall of Errislannan Manor. It occupies a prominent setting with extensive views over the surrounding landscape. The church was consecrated on 1 August 1855, and the first burial in its grounds took place in 1869. Regular church services ceased in 1955 due to a declining local Church of Ireland population and congregation.

The Omey Union of Parishes wishes to secure the long-term future of this special Connemara building and is inviting Expressions of Interest and Offers for the purchase of a new 99-year lease, not the freehold interest, of the church building and its immediate curtilage. The adjoining graveyard will remain in the ownership and care of the Parish and is not included in the proposed lease.

The building may be suitable for a range of future uses, including cultural, community, charitable, social or educational uses, provided that any proposal respects the building’s architectural heritage, its Christian ethos and the peace of the adjoining graveyard, and secures any necessary planning and conservation permissions.

Expressions of Interest are particularly welcomed from charities, community organisations and other groups.

Expressions of Interest and Offers must be submitted in accordance with the guidelines available from North’s Property.

Proposals should set out a clear vision for the future use of the building, including the activities proposed and how they will be financed to ensure long-term sustainability.
